Lort Preview – Looting with Laughter

Led by veteran game developers with an affinity for fun (and loot), Big Distraction’s debut co-op action roguelite Lort is set to bring chaotic PvE action to one’s homies.
Gamers Heroes recently joined a hands-off session for Lort and saw firsthand how this veteran-led studio is opening their heart for some jolly good cooperation – learn more with our preview.
Lort Preview – Looting with Laughter
Formed in 2023, Big Distraction is setting out to make a game that follows three guiding principles, sticking to “fun, feel, and performance” – we can dig it!
Made up of a team of gamers (that’s important!), the team at Big Distraction is huge fans of industry staples like V Rising, Risk of Rain 2, Deep Rock Galactic, and Lethal Company.
Enter Lort – a co-op roguelike experience that has been made in an environment that is fun, fulfilling, and heathy. The team has done regular weekly playtests of the title, and is aiming to create an experience that provides fun without stress – we can also dig that!
That’s not to say that Lort’s mighty quest for epic loot would be a walk in the park!
Rather, Lort prides itself on chaotic, over-the-top co-op madness. Forming up to parties of eight (or flying solo), players will be able to combo attacks, cover each other’s backs, and rally one’s friends as they wield swords, wands, bows… and guns.
On that note, Lort empowers its players to be truly OP. Tapping into that flow state of numbers going up and up, players can be absurdly overpowered for that power progression that truly feels great.
As Big Distraction succinctly put, Lort will let players “achieve peak power-up perfection!” Featuring more than 100 different items, players can utilize absolute gems like “Nah’s Barrier,” “Cool Comfy Shorts,” and “Trophy of Swole.” Just be warned that bosses could very well spawn later as regular dudes…
Featuring an emphasis on co-op play, absolute chaos, and sheer heart, we’re all too eager to team up for some jolly good cooperation in Lort’s cursed (and hilarious) fantasy world.
Lort will come out for the PC via Steam in Q4 2025 – all those interested can wishlist the title via its official Steam page. Note that it supports the Steam Deck too for on-the-go play!
Feeling social? Be sure to follow the official Lort social media accounts on TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter/X, and Facebook.
One can also join the conversation via the official Discord channel and check out the official website.
