Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves Mr. Karate Preview

For those who like putting on the pressure, Mr. Karate is the perfect Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves character.

Breaking through defenses and bringing the hurt, Mr. Karate packs a Mule Kick in his arsenal that provides a midair kick to those behind him. Paired with his triangle wall jump, and it’s easy to see that Mr. Karate’s toolset allows for nothing but the best mix-ups.

Feeling especially crafty? Mr. Karate packs a Spirit Charge that lets him charge his REV meter on his own time.

Rather feel daring, maybe even a little cheeky?

Mr. Karate also features a “Razz” taunt that charges one’s opponent REV meter in lieu of his own.

However, all opponents looking to go on the offensive best contend with Mr. Karate’s masterful zoning and defensive capabilities.

Mr. Karate’s Ryuugeki Ken lets him fire spirit energy straight ahead and keep distance, while its Haou Shoukou Ken variation adds a bit more pep for added damage.

Mr. Karate also possesses an anti-air in Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves in the form of his Ryuuga anti-air uppercut – just the thing to go toe-to-toe with Ken Masters’ fiery Shoryuken.

However, Mr. Karate truly shines when tapping into his Drago Supremo stance. The ultimate counter-measure, this stance blocks incoming offensive attacks and delivers a counter-attack of one’s choosing. 

For those who gravitate toward Marth and Roy in Super Smash Bros., Mr. Karate’s Drago Supremo is essentially evolved version of this iconic “Down+B” counter option, providing even options and variety.

The Expanse: Osiris Reborn Preview – Filling the Mass Effect Void!

The Closed Beta for The Expanse: Osiris Reborn kicks off with one’s arrival at the space station of one’s current employer. While at the beginning of the game, it’s not the start.

The Protogen company has attacked your assigned work ship, releasing a disease that takes out most of the crew.

As one explains this to the guy in charge of the space station, Protogen rolls up and demands to be let on board.

From there, your job is to escape alive – and kill anyone who gets in your way.

The Expanse: Osiris Reborn is a third-person shooter that takes the best elements from Mass Effect. Most interactions involve cover-based shooting with a few gadgets tossed in, like grenades or damage buffs.

However, The Expanse: Osiris Reborn truly excels with its partner attacks.

In certain rooms, players will have explosives or pipes that can be dropped onto enemies. From there, allies can pop those off while you fight the enemy, doing serious damage.

While not in every room, they are a game changer when they appear.

The Expanse: Osiris Reborn also truly excels with its zero-gravity fights. While playing out the same for the most part, one’s camera is altered, and one can be hit from many different angles.

Death did happen on more than one occasion due to the difficulty finding foes – a minimap with a ping of shooting enemies would certainly help. Thankfully, allies can provide revives a few times per mission, so failure was never imminent.

Of course, The Expanse: Osiris Reborn’s sound effects from fighting out in space are on point – play this one with headphones!

The Closed Beta for The Expanse: Osiris Reborn didn’t provide character creation, but two classes were available – think Soldier and Engineer.

The main difference we found was that one had more of the engineering skill, while the other had more of the persuasion skill.

Additional dialog options were provided with persuasion, but engineering lets players get into different areas – both are valuable.

Finally, The Expanse: Osiris Reborn features a number of choices in the game – both minor and major.

A minor choice early on nets a few NPC allies when the space station is first attacked, while the other has players making their way out with just their brother.

However, a later major one basically changed the escape route from the space station. It’s nice to see choices actually matter this early on in the game.

While unfamiliar with The Expanse until now, The Expanse: Osiris Reborn features an S-tier atmosphere that could very well take the crown of “Best Space RPG.”

The Expanse: Osiris Reborn will release for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store.

Petit Planet Stardrift Test Preview

Our first foray into the stars, Petit Planet has players meeting Elsasani, Captain “Mo” Mobai, and Glenn as they take part in the grand “nurture a planet” initiative.

After customizing one’s Planet Tender to their own liking, one is able to nourish their own planet through the life-giving power of Luca. Just plant a Luca seed, give it some Luca, and watch life unfold between one’s itinerary packed with fishing, bug catching, cooking, and other tasks.

After all, there is “Mo” rush in Petit Planet – their joke, not ours.

In the case of Petit Planet’s neighbors, players can meet a lively cast and crew as they travel among the stars. Players can form bonds and have visitors move in, all while keeping track of every Neighbor’s Journey and Profile in one’s handy-dandy Starcove app.

Each one of Petit Planet’s neighbors also brings their own personality and skill to the table. 

During our time with the test, we made friends with folks like the shy cultivator Yunguo and the marine biologist Mors – different temperaments for sure, but welcomed all the same.

Talking design elements, Petit Planet lets players set up a humble abode early on. Players will be able to accept deliveries via its PuffPost Box, while players can set up one’s furniture to their exact liking via a grid-based setup. 

Of course, the aforementioned friends can also give players gifts as a show of appreciation – which we accepted with open arms.

As players progress, elements like the Galactic Bazaar make their appearance. Allowing one to be social, elements like Cafe Untamed and the rhythm-based Dance-a-Thon give players a chance to keep active – along with a Notice Board.

Rounding things out, one’s MomentFolio in Petit Planet features a wealth of items just waiting to be explored, running the gamut from Plants, Clothing, Items, Dishes, and Creatures.

Providing an out-of-this-world adventure, Petit Planet lets players leave their worries back at home as they live their own wondrous life however they see fit.

Apex Legends: Overclocked Preview – The Best Competitive Experience to Date!

Entering the fray as part of Apex Legends: Overclocked is the new Legend Axle. A hypermobile Legend, her kit brings visceral, high-skill movement that forces one to always be on the move.

Axle’s Drift Passive provides increased slide control for enhanced movement precision, while her Nitro Gate Tactical provides high-speed slides to close the gap. 

She also packs an Ultimate Kickstart enemy-seeking drone, which can be used to set up devastating pushes, stall chasing enemies, or even buy time.

Both Conduit and Vantage will see updates as part of Apex Legends: Overclocked.

In the case of Conduit, Radiant Transfer can now be found in her base kit and Savior’s Speed now grants a bonus movement when sprinting toward Skirmishers. Conduit will also get two new Level 3 Upgrades that amp up offensive power in the form of both Instant Barrier and Enduring Barrier.

Meanwhile, Vantage’s Sniper’s Mark Ultimate now features faster draw and aim responsiveness, along with greater flexibility through both a 4x zoom and 2x canted sight.

Vantage’s EchoRelocation Tactical also makes her immune to hard landings when exiting her Tactical, and her new HerdTracker Upgrade now has pinging one enemy tracking the entire squad. 

Apex: Legends: Overclocked also brings Deathbox Respawns to fray, allowing one to directly revive squadmates at their Deathbox with a seven-second cast.

Finally, the dual weapon Twin Razors Mythic Universal Melee features lethal rotating laser blades. Note that they will be available as a possible drop in Overclocked Seasonal Packs, and will be available all season long. 

Respawn Entertainment Senior Design Director Evan Nikolich said the following:

“Our path forward centers on our mission of being the game where competitive players come to play. 

Listening to the community’s feedback is critical to informing meaningful change: the new Legends we introduce, impactful Legend overhauls and keeping things fresh with meta changes.

“Beyond continuing to improve and evolve the BR experience, giving players more ways to compete and experiment has always been at the heart of Apex Legends.

Palia Royal Highlands Preview – Saddle Up in This Expansion!

Players are cordially invited to Palia’s titular Royal Highlands as part of this massive expansion. Featuring golden fields filled with beautiful yellow hues and hints of red, this majestic region absolutely looks the part.

While there, players can set out to discover this sprawling region filled with treasures, foreign fauna, long-forgotten secrets, and even new villagers.

In the case of the latter, Palia’s Royal Highlights will introduce newcomer Eshelon to its grand narrative. Players can also continue the storylines of other characters they have come to know and love.

Palia’s Royal Highlands Expansion also has players contending with Amber Echo, which has proven to be endemic to the zone. Affecting both its flora and fauna, players can break it loose and gather it.

Of course, players will need to find a proper way to get around these Royal Highlands, and that’s where its new horses come into play. 

Allowing players to travel in style, completing one of Palia’s easily accessible new quests will allow players to walk, trot, canter, and even gallop with their new friend.

One can even bounce across Palia’s different mushrooms for some added whimsy! Just note that the only thing off-limits are other people’s houses – it is a “Royal” expansion after all…

One can also utilize Palia’s Ranching Skill (which was introduced last fall) in lockstep with these horses early on, completely free through gameplay progression.

Featuring a brave new world ripe for exploration, Palia’s Royal Highlands Expansion is set to provide a positively regal world – and the horses to traverse it! – when it launches May 12.

World of Tanks: HEAT Preview – The First Hero-Driven Tank Title!

So how does a hero-driven tank title play out in World of Tanks: HEAT?

Priding itself on “human-machine synergy,” this PvP title has players carefully managing both Elite Agents and their respective tanks.

When it comes to the Elite Agents of World of Tanks: HEAT, each features passive traits, skills, and ultimate abilities ripe for exploration and eventual mastery.

Meanwhile, the titular tanks of World of Tanks: HEAT serve as finely-tuned instruments of destruction. With players carefully planning each loadout with its modular system, they’ll need to be mindful of the strict power cap in play.

Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves Wolfgang Krauser Preview – The Emperor of Darkness Returns!

Known for his superhuman strength, Wolfgang Krauser can easily break defenses and close the gap in each fight. For those looking to turtle or camp, this legend will get you out of your shell and into your own personal hell.

Want to get up close and personal?

Wolfgang Krauser packs a number of anti-air attacks that properly shoot down anybody that attempts the Ken flowchart method of play – we’re looking at you Ken Masters!

With Wolfgang Krauser’s Knee Halberd, players can chain combos together as they push forward, dishing out heavy damage in the process. One can also take advantage of the odd braking maneuver to keep players on their toes; can’t make it too easy after all…

Rather keep your distance?

Wolfgang Krauser’s fireball attacks are perfect for zoning as he dishes out damage from afar. These moves also utilize Wolfgang Krauser’s Ignition Gear, altering its properties.

For those looking to finish the fight, Wolfgang Krauser also features a number of Cyclone abilities in this release, rightfully described in City of the Wolves’ Command Menu as a “Tempest of Pain.”  

Turning defense into offense, Wolfgang Krauser’s signature strength returns in Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, proudly showcasing the sheer might of this Apex of Human Potential.

]]> Featuring a passionate skater community nearly 30 million strong, Full Circle Studio and EA’s skate. is gearing up for its next trick with highlights including a stylin’ Nike SB collaboration event and even the inclusion of night skating.

We recently joined Executive Producer Mike McCartney and other key team members to learn more about skate.’s next trick – and listen in to some rockin’ tunes along the way.

Since skate.’s Early Access launch last year, the development team has been finely attuned to the feedback from its devout community. 

On that note, skate. is set to see a number of adjustments to make sure skate.(rs) are ready for the long haul.

In addition to adjustments poised to improve social play and in-game communication, the team is also taking player’s future suggestions into consideration.

skate. is certainly no poser, with a new Nike SB collaboration ensuring players are stylin’, profilin’, and dressed for success. Made up of both footwear and apparel, the skate. team is nailing the landing, ensuring authenticity by enlisting a number of Nike SB pros.

One will also be able to truly immerse themselves in this Nike SB collaboration with a new event now through May 5.

Featuring the new Nike SB area with new lights and textures, those that take on its five new challenges (named after historic Nike SB skate videos!) can earn themselves cosmetics that include Nike SB Dunk High shoes and Nike SB Logo Sock accessories.

Speaking about the collaboration, Electronic Arts Senior Director of Global Brand Management Deepa Sen said the following:

“Nike SB has been an institution in skateboarding for more than 25 years.

Bringing Nike SB’s rich history into our game is another step toward making skate. feel as true to real skating as we can for players.”

For those looking for additional opportunities to show their skills, a nighttime version of Isle of Grom will also be available in skate. as part of Grom at Night through June 2.

Dressed for success, the new Nike SB collaboration in skate. is looking to provide both style and substance to this hit skater.

Neverway Preview – A Life-Sim Horror RPG!

Depression has a stranglehold on Neverway’s protagonist Fiona. 

As it turns out, Fiona just hasn’t had the energy to make it to work, leading to her ultimate termination. Adding insult to injury, others simply feel things aren’t working between them – with the return of one’s hoodie serving as the ultimate Dear John letter.

Swiftly losing both her job and her connections, Fiona sets out to rebuild her life away from her current landscape – somewhere on an island far, far away.

And this is where Neverway truly begins.

On the subway ride way back from the office (she had to prevent her old employer from binning her favorite coffee mug), stranger small talk led to something, well, strange.

We’re not talking an awkward conversation – that’s a given. Rather, we’re talking an unsettling world filled with nightmarish cults.

Snapping back to reality Eminem-style, Fiona plans a life far away on that aforementioned island – even if she doesn’t have a job or much of anything else lined up there.

This Neverway prologue provides just a first glimpse at Fiona’s new life, but this surreal sim taps into both horror and life sim elements.

When it comes to the “life” part of this “life sim,” Neverway lets one check Fiona’s LunaOS-powered computer, manage one’s inventory, and ultimately plan out one’s day. No need to fear though – one’s computer also features a playable Chess-like title for those who like to game while they game.

However, there’s also something unsettling afoot in Neverway. Fiona can “dissociate” in a third-person scenario and there’s combat elements complete with pipe weaponry. 

Neverway also sets the mood with surreal music by Disasterpeace, along with stellar pixel art by Pedro Medeiros that provides immersion while still leaving some unease. 

Mixing life sim with horror elements, the island escape of Neverway awaits those looking for new beginnings.

Set to release this October for the PC, one can wishlist Neverway via its official Steam page and check out its prologue demo.

Crop Preview – Gritty Horror Farming Dripping with Atmosphere

Featuring a desperate town that relies on one’s output, Crop’s tone packs a noticeably different vibe compared to the saccharine Harvest Moons of the world. Drawing influence from Twin Peaks, Dredge, and Stardew Valley, Crop takes farming sim elements and drenches them in sheer atmosphere.

While Crop still has players tending to one’s farm with tender loving care, said farm is always in a state of sheer disarray.

Digging trenches, cutting waste-high grass, removing washing machines, tending to crumbling equipment – Crop’s isolated world is one of decay.

That being said, Crop makes sure to properly set the mood, providing a challenge that needs to be overcome.

This immersive mood also extends to one’s overall energy in Crop. Managed alongside one’s inventory and farm maintenance, Crop pays host to calendar system that requires careful planning – lest one suffer from exhaustion due to sheer burnout – and that’s never fun.

It’s not enough to just manage one’s farm in Crop, however – that only tells half the tale.

Literally.

Rather, Crop’s deep mystery narrative requires investigation alongside irrigation. The neighbors of Crop’s remote village have been cut off from the rest of the world – which means said people are less than civilized.

Between agitated villagers, brewing conflicts, and dire straits, one’s life in Crop is never easy – but it is immersive.

A gritty horror farming-sim dripping with atmosphere, Crop’s world sets the mood for a thriller unlike anything else on the market today.
