I was there day one for Super Street Fighter IV.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So Juri is huge &#8211; I\u2019d like to know some of your favorite fan stories at events like <a href=\"https:\/\/fireicergx.com\/\">Fire and Ice RGX<\/a>. I saw a Juri cosplayer dressed to the nines yesterday!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Jessica Straus<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This year, I&#8217;ve just started going out to conventions again, and I&#8217;ve seen more and more Juri cosplayers each convention.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A lot of fans are very passionate about Juri!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When fans come up, they&#8217;re always interested in multiple items, and they know everything about her.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I think there&#8217;s something about her that really affects people. I auditioned, got cast and their team was so positive &amp; fun to work with!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Val was a super cool character to voice. She was so wise, grounded, heartfelt, and badass all at the same time. And, she was a new type of character for me. Also, I got to voice multiple characters on the game, which I really love to do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The people at Trinket Studios and the director were wonderful to work with, and the writing was excellent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Gamers Heroes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/eorcpZHo4Mg\">You posted a video about your range of voices<\/a> &#8211; I saw a bunch of people coming to your booth for Infamous and the like!<br><br>I believe there&#8217;s also stuff like children&#8217;s characters, Leapfrog characters, and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Do you have a particular style that you prefer?&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"JessicaStraus  - NEW Character Demo!!!\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/eorcpZHo4Mg?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Jessica Straus<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I like doing a mixture of characters!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Evil, badass women are fun, but if I was doing it all the time, it could get \u2026\u201dBoring!\u201d [Juri]\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But my normal voice has a sort of lower, badass pitch to it, so that gets me cast a lot. I love using my full vocal range!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I love doing kids voices especially, but they don\u2019t cast adults as kids as much these days. However, when they do, it\u2019s just so much fun to play them!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s like, \u201cOh, I get to be a five-year-old today!\u201d Voicing innocent roles is a great mental space to exist in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Gamers Heroes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Absolutely!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So I&#8217;ve interviewed a number of VAs, and what I found is that they&#8217;re often friends with each other.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For instance, there&#8217;s a project I covered not too long ago called <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gamersheroes.com\/honest-game-reviews\/date-everything-review\/\">Date Everything!<\/a> that featured over 100 VAs!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What are some of your favorite collaboration stories?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Jessica Straus<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When I go to conventions, I always try to help out other actors!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For Street Fighter specifically, several years ago I did a picnic where I invited all the Street Fighter actors to come by and sign a 30th anniversary poster &#8211; we had a great time!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">People came and signed it, and it then went to a charity auction.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I also got collectable cards from Udon of the characters from Street Fighter 6 and Street Fighter 5.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While everybody couldn\u2019t make it, I had another picnic and I distributed it to the people that showed up &#8211; people got collectable cards!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Gamers Heroes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Changing gears\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When it comes to Wolf\u2019s Rain and FLCL &#8211; they both have a lot of fans. I\u2019ve seen a lot of AMVs!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With people inspired by Toonami and Adult Swim, what has it been like inspiring so many people &#8211; like me &#8211;&nbsp; that grew up with your work?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Wolf&#039;s Rain - Official Clip - The Journey to Paradise\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/8Zl8bod5fjU?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Jessica Straus<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It&#8217;s amazing!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">My favorite story of Blue so far comes from the conventions.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There was a great guy that watched Wolf\u2019s Rain. He got married, had a little girl, and named her after Blue!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He then brought the daughter to my table, and had me sign the picture for her.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She&#8217;s probably about 10 now, and I have a picture of her. Somebody named their daughter Blue &#8211; that\u2019s just so amazing to me!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She&#8217;s s a powerful character. I&#8217;ve also had people write papers about her for class and say:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI wrote a whole philosophy paper around Wolf\u2019s Rain and Blue!\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I think it\u2019s a story that\u2019s timeless.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">FLCL was one of the first anime series that I voiced, and it\u2019s amazing how popular it is still to this day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Gamers Heroes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Finally, what advice you have to give to the next generation of voice actors?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Jessica Straus<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It was so different back then!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Back when I started, we didn&#8217;t even have home studios &#8211; we were always going to our agents.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">My advice is to do it if you&#8217;re passionate about it, and get acting training or some kind of performance training.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Make sure that you love performing in front of other people, and you love transforming yourself into characters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you want to get into video game or anime acting, you got to take direction and turn your emotions on a dime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Make sure to do it because you love it, and get training as well.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If it comes naturally to you, and you feel like this is where you belong, &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cYOU SHOULD GO FOR IT!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Gamers Heroes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I really appreciate your time.
