How To Use Chroma Catalyst To Upgrade Weapons In Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
Chroma Catalyst’s are valuable items that let players upgrade weapon levels in Expedition 33. The game tells you that, in order to use them, you simply need to set up camp. However, this isn’t the full story.
You can find Chroma Catalyst’s in various places throughout the game, and as early as the very first map you get to explore. If you inspect the item in your inventory, it simply states:
Can be used at Camp to upgrade weapons to level 3.
While this is true, you do need to be at Camp, you also need to progress through the story. When you first reach the World Map, after completing Spring Meadows, you can set up Camp, but you cannot upgrade weapons yet.
You need to follow the main story to the Flying Waters map. Toward the end of that zone, Gustave and the group will reach The Manor. This is an important story location, you cannot miss it.
There, Gustave is reunited with Maelle, and Maelle introduces the Expedition to The Curator. You must defeat The Curator in a battle in order to leave The Manor.
The Curator will then join you at camp and offer his services. One of which is upgrading weapons.
- Read The Flying Waters Map
- Toward the end of the Flying Waters zone, you will find The Manor
- Enter The Manor and meet Maelle and The Curator
- Defeat The Curator in a battle
- Return to the world map and setup camp
- You will find The Curator in a cave on the camp map
