How To Get A Shovel For Digging In Windrose

What’s a pirate game without digging for buried treasure? Windrose has many quests and locations that require a shovel for digging, but the game doesn’t explain how to get one very easily.

Windrose features a number of mechanics that are tied to unlocking new materials and progressing to new technologies. Firstly, you can discover blueprints and recipes to unlock new items. Secondly, some can be unlocked via quest progress and lastly, discovering materials and items unlocks related recipes.

To unlock the Shovel recipe, you need to find Copper Ore. The world of Windrose is procedurally generated, so your islands and locations will be different to ours.

Every starting island has a Copper Cave somewhere. It’s a very large rock formation with an entrance that leads to an instanced cave. Once you get close, the ? on the map will change to a mining icon.

BONUS TIP: Caves can be dark, but inventory space is limited. If you forget to bring a lamp or light source with you, you can open the building menu in the cave and place a torch for a few wood.

Once you have the Copper Ore, simply use the Furnace to smelt the Copper Ore into a Copper Bar. Once you remove the Copper Bar from the Furnace, you will unlock the Shovel recipe.

If you are struggling to find the Copper Cave on your island, follow the tutorial quests. One of them will take you directly to the cave, so you don’t have to worry about finding it.
